A Day in the Life of Aram Jalili
Meet Aram Jalili: Director of Training at NTI
Aram Jalili (AJ) was published in scientific articles from a young age leading him to Silicon Valley where he started as a Fiber Optics Engineer at Sunrise Telecom. There he worked on advanced test and measurement technologies before expanding his experience as a Network Specialist at AT&T. He later combined his industry expertise with a passion for education by launching his own telecom firm and teaching courses, ultimately leading to his role at NTI.
"Over the years I've worn many different hats in several industries,” he shares. “But what I've always enjoyed most is teaching people."
As a Director of Training, AJ develops training content and teaches both in-person and online courses. He creates self-training lessons, general tutorials, short training bites, full video courses, webinars, and more.
AJ's Road to Becoming NTI's Director of Training
AJ has a degree in Computational Physics from DePaul University and has completed an extensive amount of research in fiber optic technologies. AJ is also a certified instructor for the ETA, FOA, and SCTE and holds many other certificates. His passion for teaching, combined with his extensive experience, led him to the role of Director of Training at NTI.
"One of the biggest aids for my career is the various roles I’ve filled in the industry throughout the years that has helped me better understand what folks need to be the most effective in their position which in turn has helped me mold the training programs to be the most impactful for all levels and titles," he says.
Contributors to Success in the Training Field
There are many different routes to success when navigating your career. AJ’s passion and enthusiasm for training have been key drivers of his success.
“I’m a very curious person and I get excited about these emerging technologies," he explains.
His passion for staying on the cutting edge fuels the energy he brings into every training session.
"Afterall, if I’m not excited about the materials I create and present then I can’t expect my audience to be."
What AJ's Typical Workday Looks Like
A typical workday for AJ usually consists of answering emails, getting on Teams calls in between content development, and managing the training/quality team. In the evenings, he tries to learn something new about the industry and the technologies we're deploying.
The Best Parts About Being Director of Training
AJ shares that one of his favorite parts about being NTI's Director of Training is staying up to speed on the amazing technologies we are building and how the future is shaping up. He is passionate about developing material to provide others with this new knowledge.
“Teaching is one of the most rewarding experiences and it never gets old for me,” he says.
Life Beyond the Job
In his free time, AJ enjoys staying active and creative by exercising, playing the piano, reading, diving into video games, and spending quality time with his family.
